Lyme Disease: A History of Chasing Bugs

Lyme Disease is an enigma to everyone, something that baffles understanding and cannot be explained.

The question has been asked as to when Lyme disease first arrived in the population. Of course there is the well-known discovery of Borrelia burgdorferi spirochetes in the 80’s, but many doctors know that it has been around for a very long time, though it was called different things based upon what symptoms a person was having.

It is interesting to this author that medicine has been chasing one “bug” after another in the attempt to nail down exactly why this is one of the most prevalent diseases on the planet.

Childhood Stress and Lyme Disease

Childhood Lyme infections can be somewhat easier to address, due to the pristine nature of most children’s bodies, and if it is caught early. At the same time, Lyme in children can be devastating; depending upon their health heritage and the degree of balanced life and stress in the child’s life prior to becoming sick. These issues will dictate how well a child processes through the illness.

In a child’s life, stress comes from all directions. In children, as in adults, prolonged stress predisposes one to illness by changing the cellular chemistry.

Leaky Brain Syndrome

Although many people have heard of Leaky Bowel Syndrome, few have heard of Leaky Brain Syndrome.

I coined this term when I became aware of the damaging effects on the blood-brain barrier (BBB) from the accumulation of ammonia in the brain. Ammonia in the brain is a primary cause of neurological and psychological hypersensitivity.

Ammonia alters the permeability of the BBB, enabling larger molecules to cross, such as common amino-acids, causing cerebral allergies. Ammonia-induced Leaky Brain Syndrome is one of the primary causes of Multiple Chemical Sensitivities, Cognitive dysfunction, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, and a myriad of other chronic conditions.

Beating Lyme Disease is More Than Killing Bacteria (Chapter 6 Excerpt from the "Beating Lyme Disease" book by Dr. David Jernigan

I cannot stress enough the need for your doctor to be addressing all the systems of the body on every visit. The body is totally integrated and should perform like an orchestra, with every organ and tissue keeping rhythm with all the rest of the body. Taking a multi-vitamin/mineral, or even Borrelogen™ only addresses a part of what is required by your body to restore its ability to heal.

If one organ becomes dysfunctional due to illness or trauma, it ceases to move with correct rhythm in relation to the three dimensional movement of the other organs.
